Electronic Engineering \ Electronic and Communication Engineering. what is the best?

May 3rd, 2009 by admin

I am searching for a twin degree that includes Electronic Engineering.I didn't able to find it with Electronic in the uni I searched in, But with Electronic and Communication Engineering.

What I want to do is learn Electronic Engineering.(To work as a Electronic Engineer in the future).

Is it a good idea to select ECE? Is this a different type of degree? Or the Electronic degree with added Communication?

RF and wireless communications is going to be the hottest markets. RF dosent necessarily have to be radios it can also just give you a solid background to work in any highspeed market. even digital companies need RF engineers since they work at such high speeds. Communications can also get you into many markets since most tech is going towards wireless.

It also depends on if you want to do hardware level design and test versus transitor level design and theory. Communications and RF is A LOT of math and takes into account more theory than any other EE discipline. RF wireless uses non linear models versus the standard analog linear models.

So to make things short….there willl be a greater need for the communications engineer, since there are not that many today.

I would recommend looking into RF Microdevices with a good core knowledge in communications systems. This can lead to a hardware engineering position in the fields of modern communications which has a big upside.

Read WiMax, WiFi, LTE, 4G mobile devices etc.
